WSI and Weather Central Launch Max Studio

Global Weather Authority Introduces Interactive Technology for Max EcoSystem

Andover, Mass. (April 8, 2013) – Weather Services International (WSI) and Weather Central, the leading providers of superior weather data and graphics systems for U.S. broadcast and cable networks, today announced the launch of Max Studio. The new interactive solution allows on-air talent to interact with graphic content, data video and maps while remaining on-air in chromakey or using a touchscreen device.

Combining proprietary technology from both WSI and Weather Central, Max Studio offers a dynamic and interactive twist to ordinary weather coverage. Max Studio, the newest addition to the Max EcoSystem, eliminates monotony by integrating eye-catching visuals and adding variety to newscasts.

Broadcasters can learn more about Max Studio, by coming to the WSI booth #SL1710, South Hall Lower, at the 2013 NAB Show, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, April 6-11.

Using Max Studio, on-air talent can draw, highlight and move objects using a wireless remote, video signal and tip of their finger. Talent assigns specific actions to buttons within any Max Scene launching live video or interactive layouts to reveal additional information.

When combined with Max Storm, Max Traffic or Max News, Max Studio’s interactive functionality tells a compelling story for every screen. Tap on a map to reveal traffic cameras from the scene, query a highway for drive times or simply touch a radar image to uncover additional storm details. Immediacy has never been more interactive. Max Studio was designed to enable broadcasters to provide the most interactive, first-to-air coverage on the only 100 percent, real-time rendering system available anywhere. Its launch makes the Max EcoSystem a fully seamless and non-linear presentation system.

“When audiences need lifesaving weather information, crucial morning traffic reports or breaking news as fast as possible, Max Studio gives the talent everything they need, in any order they want, at the tip of their finger,” said Bill Dow, vice president and general manager of WSI's media division. “With Max Studio broadcasters can deliver a more complete and compelling pitch to advertisers, especially in the critical morning daypart, the fastest growing segment for broadcasters.”
