New TruVu Max Addition Offers First Integrated Weather and Traffic Platform
Andover MA, Sept 22, 2011 – WSI (Weather Services International), the leading provider of superior weather data and graphics systems for the majority of US broadcast and cable networks, today announced the introduction of WSI Max Traffic, the first and only integrated weather and traffic data solution on the market today.
As traffic and weather are typically presented in sequential on-air segments, and as weather is often a driving factor in traffic problems, Max Traffic offers a unified, professionally designed interface with the same high-end look for traffic that TruVu Max now offers for weather. Partnering with Inrix, the world’s largest traffic network, Max Traffic offers combined weather and traffic presentations that can, for example, provide reports on: (1) traffic flows and radar depicting heaviest areas of precipitation (rain or snow); (2) traffic and satellite imagery identifying areas that could present visual solar glare obstacles; and (3) the future state of traffic due to weather in a given geographic area using WSI’s exclusive and highly accurate RPM (Rapid Precision Mesoscale) forecast modeling tool.
“As budgets tighten, stations have opted for weather talent to present both weather and traffic information. WSI has developed the Max Traffic application as a complement to this trend,” said Bill Dow, VP and General Manager of WSI’s Media Division. “Now, by presenting weather and traffic on one cohesive platform with Max Traffic, broadcasters can continue to improve ROI by eliminating separate traffic and weather systems, reducing separate weather and traffic hardware/maintenance costs and leveraging weather talent.”
Featuring the same polished look for traffic as TruVu Max provides for weather, Max Traffic requires no pre-rendering. It provides a true 3-D environment with advanced special effects and offers the industry’s highest resolution for earth and city models.
WSI is the most trusted source of weather information across the globe. WSI is recognized as the world's leading source of professional on-air weather systems and forecasting tools for television. More of America’s leading broadcasting and cable companies choose WSI than any other weather provider. WSI is a member of The Weather Channel Companies and is headquartered in Andover, Massachusetts with offices in Birmingham, England. The Weather Channel Companies are owned by a consortium made up of NBC Universal and the private equity firms The Blackstone Group and Bain Capital.
